Did you know where Siquijor Island is located? Is it situated in Luzon? Is it located in the rear part of Visayas? Or in the central part of Mindanao? Siquijor is placed where I go when winter sets in and my job at gets slower. As you can see in the Philippine map, Siquijor is just a dot or a point, however, the super stunning and mesmerizing elegance of the place will bring you to the most memorable experience.

Siquijor Island is situated in the central part of the Philippines particularly in the Visayas region. Since I have visited “The island of fire” many times, I will share to all of you some of the places to go if this island will be the next destination on your travel lists. How to get in the “Isla del Fuego”? You can take a ride on a ferryboat either from Tagbilaran, Bohol or Dumaguete to the port of Siquijor. After that, you can ride a mini-shuttle or a tricycle to wander the entire island.

The Delighted Balete Tree

This is the famous and 400 years old Balete tree, beside it is a clean pond with small and big fish swimming in different directions. If you love the fish spa, you can try this. You will only pay 10 PHP per session. You can sit down and relax together with your family or special someone as you deep down your feet in the fishpond while the fish is getting the callus or dead skin on your foot. If you have done the foot spa session, you can travel to the next place, in the exit, there are many available islands souvenirs you can purchase like shirts, key holders and bracelets.

The Sanctuary of Butterfly

This is located in my aunt’s town Larena particularly in the village of Cabilao. Seeing and interacting with colorful and awesome butterflies is so refreshing to our eyes. The area is 200 square meters residence of dazzling butterflies. If you love to study the life stages of a butterfly starting from caterpillar to pupa and further, this is the perfect sanctuary to roam around and observe. This is one of the adventurous sanctuaries on Siquijor island plus your children will also learn about biodiversity and conserving it. An entrance fee is applied but will make your day a remarkable one while interacting with attractive and colorful butterflies.

Salagdoong Beach

This beach is famously situated in Maria, Siquijor. One of the best beaches on the island with fresh, clear and warm waters, white refine sand and perfect for outdoor beach activities. I can prove that this beach is unpolluted since there is no industrial plant surrounded. The deep blue sea-waters are constantly translucent. The beach has mini-hotels to stay overnight. If you like swimming under the heat of the sun, this beach is the right choice. They have a diving board towards the sea. You can try to jump off for about 7 to 10- meters straightforward into the water. They have also water slides going to the sea. Such fun to stay with the family, love ones and relatives.
